На картине изображена голова молодой женщины, лицо которой завершено; наоборот, ее волосы и линия плеч почти не нарисованы. Фактически, несколько линий предполагают эти последние элементы, но в стиле Леонардо именно тень и свет формируют ее лицо.
Голова повернута на три четверти влево и наклонена вниз. Его глаза, которые не смотрят на зрителя, полузакрыты и имеют слегка припухшие веки . Его губы рисуют то, что можно сравнить с началом улыбки.
